EU ambassador after meeting Finance Minister: Talks with IMF an urgent need

Finance Minister Youssef el-Khalil met on Friday with Minister of Telecommunications Johnny Corm, and discussed the problems of the telecommunications sector in order to find the appropriate solutions.

Additionally, el-Khalil also met with the Ambassador of the European Union to Lebanon Ralph Tarraf. The meeting tackled the bilateral relations.

Following the meeting, Tarraf stated that "it was a fruitful meeting, where we discussed and compared aspirations on how to move Lebanon forward.”

He also pointed out that he “was encouraged to see agreement between both of them on priorities to help Lebanon overcome the economic crisis, adding “that talks with the International Monetary Fund are an urgent need that should be well prepared for.”

Moreover, he said that “the government's priorities must have a clear and specific strategy, regarding issues that are not easy to address.”

"After a long period of stalemate, it is good to note that the Lebanese government is now able to progress with these relevant files,” he added.

On another note, a meeting was held between Minister al-Khalil with Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Yasser Alawi, who expressed "the Arab Republic of Egypt's continuous support for Lebanon."
