Aoun tweets on elections, Hariri, and Hezbollah

FPM leader Michel Aoun said on Friday via his twitter account that LF Chief Samir Geagea's call for Syrian Christians to fight the ongoing civil war in Syria is just “foolish and prove disastrous to this community.”

“I would like to think that Hariri is the sole guarantor against the Muslim Brotherhood ruling Lebanon, but he and his movement are working to make the brotherhood arrive to power in Syria,” Aoun stated.

According to Aoun, "the Assad regime will not collapse as Syria has become a threat for a World war between US and Europe against Russia and China backed by BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China)".

The former general also commented on the issue of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon saying that security apparatuses are capable of controlling the situation especially that “they could receive the help of the citizens to achieve this mission.”

On the reforms issue, Aoun said that “social security reforms depend on the vote of the people during the upcoming elections," revealing that “the FPM will soon publish a book with thoroughly documented cases about the corruption system that was reigning during the Hariri era.”

On the upcoming parliamentary elections, Aoun stressed that “by boycotting the parliamentary sessions, the Hariri led opposition is depriving the Lebanese of a chance to have fair democratic elections.”

“We are committed to the Orthodox Gathering proposal or to the law of proportionality endorsed by the cabinet,” Aoun affirmed. “If a new electoral law is not endorsed, democracy in Lebanon will face a grave danger.”

Aoun also affirmed that those who reject the Memorandum of Understanding between the FPM and Hezbollah “did not read it” and therefore “it is a waste of time to try and convince them because they will refuse to let go of their prejudice."
