Lebanese leaders throw support behind Aoun’s call to dialogue

President Michel Aoun met on Tuesday with head of Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammad Raad at the Baabda Presidential Palace.

Following the meeting, MP Raad stated that “the bloc supported the invitation to dialogue and it agreed in participating in the suggested national dialogue.”

He then revealed that he considers that “the country is facing tough times and the constant dialogue is much needed.”

Aoun then met with Lebanese Democratic Party leader MP Talal Arslan who said that “what is happening in the country is a crime committed against Lebanese people.”

“The deteriorating economic and financial situation as well as the lack of control over the exchange rate of the US dollar, should drive everyone to take their obligations more seriously and cautiously,” he added.

Arslan also expressed his support for the call to take part in the dialogue “to meaningfully find a solution."

Among Aoun’s visitors was the Marada Movement leader Sleiman Frangieh who announced that he will boycott the national dialogue.

“Dialogue should be between two sides not one,” he added.
