Media figure Samar al-Hajj passes away

Lebanese media figure Samar Chalak al-Hajj passed away on Thursday at the age of 63 after a long struggle with sickness.

She was the wife of former Internal Security Forces chief Major General Mostapha Ali al-Hajj.

Numerous political figures mourned her death as she was active in politics, mainly after the arrest of her husband by the United Nations International Independent Investigation Commission to investigate the assassination of former Prime Minister of Lebanon, Rafic Hariri.

Samar al-Hajj, a native of Ras Nahash in the northern district of Koura, was born in 1959.

She was laid to rest in the town of Barja, in Iqlim al-Kharroub, the birthplace of her husband.
