LAF: Army Command is the sole military reference

The Lebanese Army Command said in a statement on Thursday that only the Commander of the Armed Forces and the Directorate of Orientation are authorized to make any comment or provide information related to the army.

The statement was responding to some media reports which quoted a military sources about the situation in Tripoli, the SMS data issue and the Syrian refugees as well as the relations between the army command and politicians.

The command added that any information about the military institutions should only be provided by the army commander or the Directorate of Orientation, urging all news media outlets to consider the delicate situation in the country and the region and be careful while obtaining or reporting news concerning the Lebanese Army.
