Iran and Russia want to boost energy and trade cooperation

Officials in Tehran and Moscow said on the sidelines of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak's visit to Iran on Thursday that work is being done to improve cooperation in the fields of energy and trade.

The two countries, which have some of the world's largest oil and gas reserves, are subject to Western economic sanctions that limit their ability to export and benefit from revenues from energy sources, which were previously their primary source of income.
