Mikati: Imminent time and upcoming entitlements require swift government formation
Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati said on Friday that “the imminent time and the upcoming entitlements require us to expedite the proactive steps, the most prominent of which is the formation of a new government, which coincides with the final months of President Michel Aoun's term and the election of a new president for Lebanon."
"I prepared a new government lineup and submitted it to President Michel Aoun last week, and discussed its content with him, as His Excellency made some observations, hoping that we will continue discussions over this dossier, on the basis of cooperation and respect that has prevailed between us over the last period," Mikati continued.
"Our resigned government continues its work in order to address the many issues within the spirit of positive cooperation, in parallel with similar cooperation with the Parliament to approve the draft budget law and several reform projects that constitute an essential step toward reaching the final agreement with the International Monetary Fund,” he concluded by saying.
