Mayor of Hadath on a street sweeping mission
The municipality of Hadath launched a broad campaign to rid public spaces of items and services that are considered a nuisance by Lebanese laws.

The cleanup will cover an area from Saint Therese Street to Jamous Street, with the support of the mayor of Hadath George Edward Aoun and the municipal police. Mayor Aoun explained that the cleaning campaign will target violations of public property laws, freeing sidewalks and other public areas of illegal billboards, kiosks, generators and even peddlers, vegetable stalls and mangled cars.

Asked about potential security incidents during the campaign, Aoun stressed that “every citizen has rights and duties”, voicing hope that everyone will be cooperative and abide by the law in order to protect the public interest.
