British Ambassador Cowell meets Caretaker PM Mikati

British ambassador to Lebanon Hamish Cowell met on Tuesday with Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati.

Following the meeting, Cowell stressed that they underlined the importance of strengthening the long-term bilateral relations between both countries, confirming the United Kingdom’s continued commitment to support the Lebanese army and the most vulnerable communities in Lebanon.

He then pointed out that “the UK wants to see stability, prosperity and security in Lebanon.”

He went on to say that this is why he urged the authorities to carry out urgent reforms in order to secure a deal with the International Monetary Fund, and this is necessary to put Lebanon on the path of recovery, to restore the confidence of businessmen and investors and to address the serious difficulties facing the Lebanese people.
