Municipal funds to be paid over two phases

The Joint Manager Director at the Ministry of Interior Brigadier Abdo Berbari explained on Friday the reasons behind delaying the payments belonging to the Independent Municipal Fund.

Brigadier Berbari said in a press conference that the Ministry of Finance delayed payments to the Municipal Fund in order to deduce accrued amounts on municipalities as a result of paying for lifting and collecting wastes in some areas.

“The ministry will deduce 100% of its receivables from rich municipalities, 60% from low-income municipalities, and 40% from poor municipalities,” he added.

“A plan was agreed upon between Ministers Marwan Charbel and Mohammad Safadi so municipalities do not stay without resources this year,” Brigadier Berbari concluded.
