TotalEnergies says preparing to explore block no. 9 in 2023

Caretaker Minister of Energy Walid Fayad was welcomed by TotalEnergies Chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanné at the company's headquarters.

Pouyanné declared during the meeting that the teams in charge of the drilling operations on Block 9 were now ready.

He said in a statement that more than 10 people, in addition to the operations manager, have been involved in the well's preparation to date. The team assembled in Beirut will have more than 20 members by the end of March. A decision on the drilling rig should be made in the first quarter of 2023 as a result of the opening of the call for tenders.

Pre-orders have also been made with suppliers for the well's equipment. The environmental studies, which will be finished by the end of June 2023, are being supported concurrently by the mobilization of offshore resources.

To achieve the goal of TotalEnergies and its partner ENI to finish the drilling as soon as possible in 2023, all those TotalEnergies teams are collaborating with LPA to prepare the well.
