UL contract teachers stage sit-in in Riad El Solh

Lebanese University contractual instructors committee staged a sit-in in Riad El Solh square on Tuesday, calling for the endorsement of their "full-time employment" dossier by the Cabinet.

Participants raised banners confirming their continued strike until they are granted tenure.

The protesters thanked as well the Minister of Education for his support to their case.

The sit-in of the contractual teachers coincided with the Cabinet session held at the Grand Serail.Reading out a statement on behalf of participants, Dr Wassim al-Sayyid called for the endorsement of their file during today's cabinet session, considering their quest as "righteous."

A delegation of participants headed to the Grand Serail, where they met with Prime Minister Najib Mikati's Bureau Chief, Moustapha Adib, who relayed to them the Premier's relentless efforts to secure the endorsement of their dossier in the nearest time possible.
