Assaults on churches continue… Jiyeh the latest victim

Unidentified assailants broke into Saydet al-Nejme Church (Our Lady of al-Nejme Church) after breaking its backdoor. They pried open the tabernacle, located on the Church’s altar and shuffled its contents.

Immediately, security forces and crime-scene investigators rushed to the scene and opened an investigation.

Father George Shouli, head of Saint Charbel Monastery in Jiyeh strongly condemned this incident. “It seems to be an attempt of robbery”, he said, refusing any speculation or sectarian consideration.
