Qabbalan: The Army has proven itself stronger than all challenges

Vice President of the Higher Islamic Shiite Council Abdul Amir Qabalan denounced the attack against the Lebanese Army which took place in Arsal last Friday describing it as an unsuccessful attempt to block the country’s military role in enforcing security and stability on all Lebanese territories.

“This cowardly attack is a series of targeted rounds aimed at positions of power and the resistance movement in the country,” he said. Qabalan said that the LAF proved that it is stronger than all challenges since it draws its strength from the Lebanese people who consider the military institution a guard against all threats facing the country.

The top Shiite cleric reiterated the army’s role in maintaining stability and national peace, warning against trespasses targeting the institution, and calling on all Lebanese citizens to demonstrate utmost support toward the army.

On Lebanese politicians, Qabalan demanded that they provide a suitable political atmosphere in the country and commit to reasonable rhetoric. In his concluding remarks, the Sheikh delivered his utmost condolences to the families of the LAF martyrs and Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji, wishing a swift recovery for the remaining officers who were wounded in the ambush.
