MP Gemayel calls on the Army Command to detail Arsal incident

Kataeb Party MP Sami Gemayel said on Monday that the Lebanese government should ease the lives of the people and added that the rising price of hydrocarbon derivatives are affecting all the Lebanese people.              

In regards to the Arsal incident, Gemayel expressed full support to the Lebanese Armed Forces and called on the Army Command to explain in details what happened in Arsal.                          

"The mistake was committed when the state allowed residents of a certain region to attack the army and security forces," Gemayel said, in reference to the killing of First Lieutenant Samer Hanna and other attacks against the military institution.               

As for the electoral law, MP Gemayel said that the Kataeb Party insists on holding the elections on due time on the basis of a new electoral law that represents all factions and added that they presented a new electoral draft that ensure just representation and true partnership.               

"We will suggest a new hybrid law to the sub-committee; 60% based on the majoritarian system and 40% based on the law of proportionality," MP Gemayel added.      

MP Gemayel added that the Kataeb Party will be meeting with the LF MP Georges Adwan in order to discuss the law draft presented by each party and the possibility of mixing them together.      

On his meeting with Former PM Saad Hariri, MP Gemayel said that it is normal to meet and discuss Lebanese affairs, and said that they mainly discussed the electoral law.
