Are hospital pay protests really what they seem?
The employees of Rafik Hariri University Hospital staged a demonstration on Wednesday inside the hospital to protest against the delay in receiving their salaries.

The protesters called on Health Minister Ali Hassan Khalil to take prompt action to overcome this crisis, threatening escalate their protest by halting work and organizing strikes.

The protesters said that harming or intimidating any worker who is calling for his rights will accelerate the escalation.

But all is not as it seems. The hospital’s administration revealed that employees have already received the bulk of their salaries, with only transportation cost being withheld, adding up to around 10% of a total salary.

“[The protest] is clearly an attempt to incite the employees against the administration”, the hospital administration added.
