Family of Akel Hashem arrives in Lebanon

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) transported on Monday from the occupied Palestine land through the border gate of Naqoura the family of deceased SLA Colonel Akel Hashem.

Hashem’s family consists of his wife Leila Kassab (54 years), his daughter Chantal (born in 1991), and his son Geries (born in 1980).

The ICRC handed over the family members of Hashem to the Lebanese authorities in Naqoura.

Colonel Hashem, was the second most senior officer in the South Lebanon Army after its commander Antoine Lahad. He was branded a "criminal traitor" by Hezbollah.

He died in January 2000, when a remote-controlled bomb exploded near his car on the road to his ranch in Dibel in the then Israeli-occupied enclave.
