Assir: The doors of Tehran are open to those who refuse coexistence

Imam of Bilal bin Rabbah mosque, Sheikh Ahmad Assir asserted on Tuesday that Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was able with the party's weapons to undermine the authority of the Higher Defense Council.

Assir noted that Nasrallah is turning Lebanon into an "Iranian replica", pointing out that Lebanese authorities allow "all Lebanese people to stage protests except him".

Assir's words came during a protest staged in the Tariq Jdideh area where he stressed that the Higher Council of Defense convened to prevent him from expressing his points of views.

He called on all Lebanese factions to live together or to otherwise resort to Iran.

Earlier, Assir's supporters gathered at Elya roundabout near Le Mall shopping center in Sidon on Tuesday afternoon.

While the gatherers did not block roads they chanted slogans and raised banners in support of the provocative sheikh.

"The people demand that the army be liberated," was just one of the slogans chanted, according to reports.

The crowds in Sidon soon dispersed, however the movement was replicated in the Tariq Jdideh area where supporters of Assir blocked the road before the Imam Ali mosque.
