Sheikh Assir calls for massive turnout in Sunday protests

Imam of the Bilal bin Rabah mosque, Sheikh Ahmad Al Assir, called on Friday for mass participation in next Sunday's protests, reiterating his warnings from the "Iranian project in Lebanon".

Following the Friday prayers in Al Bahaa mosque in Sidon, Sheikh Al Assir considered that President Sleiman's statements in his regard are proof that he is not backed by the Future bloc or Qatar.
President Michel Sleiman had mentioned Assir briefly on Thursday during his meeting with the Editors Syndicate whereby he described the provocative sheikh as "politically unaffiliated with any group, particularly the Future Bloc or other regional powerhouse."
