President Sleiman: Officials' stances should reflect the State’s policy of dissociation

       
President Michel Sleiman said on Saturday that the cabinet has adopted the policy of dissociation in regards to the Syrian crisis and it was agreed upon during the session of the National Dialogue.        

"Any stance or proposal issued by officials in international events, especially by the Foreign Minister, should reflect the State’s policy of dissociation and requires a prior consultation with the President who will also hold deliberations with Prime Minister Najib Mikati," Sleiman added.      

In this regard, President Sleiman had received a Qatari call to attend the Arab Summit expected to be held in Doha on the 26th and 27th of March.        

For his part, Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour expressed his surprise toward what has been said that he committed a Constitutional violation when he delivered a speech in Cairo, adding that what he said was his mere standpoint, not a political decision.      

In this context, Mansour stressed that Lebanon is committed to the policy of dissociation, pointing out that he distanced himself from the Arab League's last resolution through giving the Syrian seat to the opposition, and refused to unveil the letter he received from PM Najib Mikati.
