Diplomats: EU envoys fail to reach agreement on sanctions against Russia

EU diplomats said Friday that the bloc’s envoys failed to reach an agreement on the 20th sanctions package targeting Russia, which includes a proposed full ban on maritime services linked to Russian crude oil exports.

The European Union aims to adopt the next package on the fourth anniversary of the war in Ukraine on February 24. Envoys are expected to meet early next week to discuss the matter ahead of the EU foreign ministers’ meeting on Monday.
