Lebanese Communist Party stages a demonstration in the Riad al-Soleh Square

The Lebanese Communist Party staged a sit-in on Sunday in the Riad al-Soleh Square to support the Union Coordinating Committe.

In this context, Former Minister Charbel Nahhas said that the system’s purpose is to gain time adding that officials are referring the pay scale and they are not agreeing on an electoral law.

Former Minister Nahhas added that abstaining from referring the series of ranks and salaries to the parliament misplaced the official status of Prime Minister Najib Mikati.

For his part, Mahmoud Haidar delivered a speech on behalf of the Union Coordinating Committee pointing out that the UCC is undergoing the battle of the poor people and those with a limited income that represent 99% of the Lebanese people.

In turn, Head of the People's Movement Najah Wakim said that Lebanon has been witnessing for the past 20 years hypocritical policies adding that the state is unable to reach an electoral law since “embassies that help officials are busy distributing destruction and killing in various Syrian regions”.

As for the Secretary General of the Communist Party Khaled Hdadeh, he said that the series of ranks and salaries is a right adding that it should be referred to the parliament and it’s the state’s duty to fund it.

Hdadeh added that “the government did not dissociate itself else from its obligations and all its plans and projects serve corruption”.

Earlier, the party held a march from the Barbir area toward the Grand Serail and the Parliament.
