REPORT: Ancient artifacts stolen from Jbeil Castle

Unknown persons entered the Jbeil Castle Museum and stole several ancient artifacts.

Culture Minister Gaby Layoun arrived to the museum along with Jbeil municipality Head Ziad Hawat on Monday to examine the site. Forensic detectives also rushed to the scene to lift fingerprints.

"The 30 small and easy to carry pieces were stolen after the thieves broke the Museum's inside door," Layoun told the state run National News Agency, confirming that, in addition to the material value, those stolen objects had great moral and archeological worth.

The Minister hoped investigations would lead to uncovering the identities of the thieves.
