Interior Minister Charbel: Situation spiraling out of control

        
Muslim Scholars held on Monday a meeting with the Interior Minister Marwan Charbel, the Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn and Judge Hatem Madi.        

Following the meeting, Marwan Charbel said the situation is spiraling out of control, adding that the speeches delivered by clerics rolled back strife.        

In this context, Charbel pointed out that 10 persons were arrested in order to unveil the circumstances of yesterday’s incident, noting that the judiciary is dealing with their case.   

In addition, Charbel said that the clashes taking place on the Lebanese borders should come to an end, especially in the light of the dire security situation.        

Two sheikhs from Dar al-Fatwa, Mazen Hariri and Ahmad Fakhran were attacked on Sunday, in the region of al-Khandak al-Ghamik, while they were heading to Mohammad al-Amin Mosque.                           

The sheikhs were immediately taken to al-Makassed hospital for treatment.       

The attack was not only limited to the 2 Sheikh in al-Khandak al-Ghamik; reports said that 2 other clerics were attacked in the Shiyah area.             

They were identified as Sheikh Omar Imami and Ibrahim Abdul Latif. They were transported to the Shtoura hospital after receiving first aid treatment in a Beirut hospital.
