Patriarch Rai: Citizens will no longer accept politicians who work for their own benefits

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Rai said on Saturday that the first duty of the political authority is ensuring peace and justice pointing out that “Lebanese citizens will no longer accept politicians who work for their personal benefits and corrupt constitutional institutions”.

Cardinal Rai warned during his Easter message from the consequences of pushing the country into a national crisis and added that “any type of void is not accepted”.

Rai added that national dialogue is really important and stressed that dialogue should become a permanent national committee that deals with various critical issues.

As for the Syrian crisis, Cardinal Rai called for keeping Lebanon away from the crisis and preventing the smuggling of arms into the Syrian territories.
