Arrest warrants against 7 suspects involved in sheikhs attacks

First Investigative Judge Ghassan Oweidat ordered on Tuesday arrest warrants against the seven suspects involved in the attacks against the Sunni Muslim clerics in al-Khandak al-Ghamik and Shiyah areas.

Earlier in the day, Judge Oweidat kicked off interrogations with the seven suspects

Two sheikhs from Dar al-Fatwa, Mazen Hariri and Ahmad Fakhran were attacked on Sunday [March 17], in the region of al-Khandak al-Ghamik, while they were heading to Mohammad al-Amin Mosque.           

The sheikhs were immediately taken to al-Makassed hospital for treatment.           

The attack was not only limited to the 2 Sheikh in al-Khandak al-Ghamik; reports said that 2 other clerics were attacked in the Shiyah area.         

They were identified as Sheikh Omar Imami and Shiekh Ibrahim Abdul Latif. They was transported to the Shtoura hospital after receiving first aid treatment in Beirut.
