Sheikh Assir calls for a sit-in after Friday prayers

The supporters of Imam of Bilal bin Rabbah mosque Sheikh Ahmad Assir gathered on Sunday near the roundabout of Bahaeddine Hariri Mosque in order to express solidarity with Sheikh Assir’s movements, noting that Assir has called for a sit-in outside Sidon's Al Zahra Mosque after Friday prayers.

It is worth noting that the movement has blocked traffic in Sidon's eastern highway, amid airtight security measures undertaken by the Lebanese Armed Forces and the Internal Security Forces.

On another note, Sheikh Assir slammed Speaker Nabih Berri and Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, calling on the Lebanese Army not “to pave the way for Hezbollah’s insurgents to enter the Syrian territories.”

Sheikh Assir began his protest against Hezbollah’s “extra-state" arms on June 28 and has repeatedly stressed that he won’t end the sit-in until his demands are met.
