Israeli army reviews outcome of operations against Hezbollah: Thousands of targets destroyed, thousands killed and wounded since last year

The Israeli army marked the first anniversary of 'Operation Northern Arrows' on Sunday, with its Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee posting on X that the campaign dealt a 'significant blow to Hezbollah’s leadership, infrastructure, and military capabilities.'

“In this day a year ago, the Israeli army launched the opening strike of the operation by targeting Hezbollah’s firepower capabilities and eliminating Ibrahim Aqil, head of Hezbollah’s operations system, along with commanders of the Radwan Unit,” Adraee claimed.

He said the operation “caused significant damage to Hezbollah’s command-and-control system and the Radwan Force, while destroying vital infrastructure across the group’s first and second village lines in southern Lebanon.”

According to Adraee, following the initial strikes, “the Israeli army carried out a ground maneuver using five military divisions in over 30 villages, killing Hezbollah operatives and dismantling the group's infrastructure.”

The spokesperson added that during the campaign “around 9,800 targets were attacked, including thousands of short-range rocket launchers, weapons and ammunition depots, and command sites. Some 85,000 weapons and munitions were seized, and 1,100 underground infrastructures near the border were destroyed.”

He claimed that “between 4,000 and 5,000 Hezbollah commanders and operatives were killed, while about 9,000 others were wounded and put out of action. The Israeli army inflicted severe damage on Hezbollah’s chain of command, from Nasrallah at the top of the leadership pyramid down to the lowest field levels.”

Adraee further said the army dealt “serious damage to Hezbollah’s firepower, including 70–80% of its short-range rocket launchers, stripping the group of its central capability. The threat of Hezbollah’s organized offensive plan, known as the ‘Conquest of the Galilee,’ was also removed.”

He noted that since the operation ended and the cease-fire came into effect, “the Northern Command and its units have been working continuously to foil Hezbollah’s attempts to rebuild its strength. In this period, more than 300 militants were killed and more than 300 terrorist targets were struck.”

Adraee concluded that “the 91st Division carried out more than 1,000 raids and operational activities in the advanced forward defensive zone.”
