Project to develop energy-saving lighting launched

Minister of Energy and Water Gebran Bassil launched a project to develop energy-saving lighting with the support of the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation, which provides power on one hand, and lighting on highways at night on the other.

Bassil said that there are 1500 control devices and counters that will be built and installed “at no cost” for municipalities.

“Through this project, the ministry will provide energy to the EDL and the Lebanese state, as well as lighting through solar energy in order to help the municipalities who are willing to solve this problem”, he said.

Bassil said that this initiative aims to cope with the growing cost on the treasury and municipalities, which is impacting the citizens. He called on the municipalities to cooperate for the benefit of everyone.
