President Sleiman slams adjourning parliamentary elections

President Michel Sleiman warned on Friday against breaching the will of the Lebanese people in choosing their representatives in the parliament.

He slammed any plans to adjourn the upcoming parliamentary elections and extending the mandate of the parliament.

President Sleiman called on the MPs to draft an electoral law as soon as possible in order to put an end for the current crisis in the country.

Consultations are underway among the Lebanese forces to reach an agreement over a new electoral law for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

On Thursday, Speaker Berri scheduled a parliamentary session for Saturday set whether to extend the parliament's mandate or to hold the elections.
