Syrian Ambassador Ali meets Mansour, tackles Syrian file

Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim Ali held on Wednesday a meeting with Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour whereby both officials tackled the latest developments and the situation on the Lebanese-Syrian border.

In this context, Mansour slammed the role of the Arab League, noting that it has become involved in the attacks targeting Syria.

For his part, the ambassador called on the Arab countries that "still have a conscious" to beware of the plot against Syria.

In a question directed at Ali over Hezbollah's involvement in the raging battles in Syria's al-Qusayr, the ambassador said that "the Lebanese 'resistance' played a major role in liberating the occupied land".

Hezbollah has lost dozens of fighters in the battles taking place in Syria in its bid to help the Syrian regime regain control of the town near the Lebanese border, but the party's involvement in Syria is threatening to draw Lebanon ever deeper into the Syrian conflict.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights estimates that more than 94,000 people have been killed since the Syrian revolution began in March 2011.
