MP Hout to LBCI: Security situation in Lebanon pretext to extend parliament's mandate

Al-Jamaa al-Islamiya MP Imad al-Hout announced on Friday that the majority of Lebanese leaders agreed on extending the parliament's mandate, noting that ongoing deliberations tackle the period of the said extension.

In an interview with LBCI's Nharkom Said TV Show, MP Hout said that the security situation in Lebanon is being used as a pretext to extend the parliament's mandate.

MP Hout slammed the attack on the Lebanese Armed Forces in Arsal, calling for the swift identification of the perpetrators and consequent prosecution.

On Syria, MP Hout reiterated that Iran and Hezbollah are interfering in the fighting taking place within the country, noting that 70% of fighters in al-Nusra Front are Syrian nationals.

He also described the latest televised speech of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah as a "Takfiri speech", saying that Iran and Hezbollah's pretext to justify their military interference in Syria is "a lie".
