Experts believe that personal care depends on personal preference and that there are ways you can judge for yourself how often you should wash your hair.
While the answer is different for everyone, dermatologist and director of Boston Medical Center's hair clinic Lynne Goldberg believe that washing your hair every day can do more harm than good.
However, there are some things that need to be kept in mind when trying to determine how often you need to wash your hair.
Here are the three main important factors:
1- Skin type If your hair is anywhere from normal to dry, a Columbia University health column suggests you only need to wash it once or twice a week.
2- Hair texture Curly hair slows down sebum's spread, so if you have hair like this you may only need to shampoo once a week. However, people with straight hair will likely need to shampoo more often.
3- Styling If you style your hair consistently and use hairspray often, your scalp becomes damaged easily, so in order to keep it healthy you should use shampoo and conditioner every day.
