Israeli army announces "series of airstrikes" in Lebanon

The Israeli army announced Wednesday that its fighter jets "have begun a series of airstrikes in Lebanon," raising fears of further escalation between the two countries, which have been exchanging shelling for several months amid the war in Gaza.

The army did not provide any further details about the airstrikes, which came hours after shelling from the Lebanese side resulted in injuries to people in northern Israel, according to medics.
