Iranian government says participation rate in elections reached 41%

On Monday, the Iranian government declared that the participation rate in the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Assembly of Leadership Experts' elections on Friday reached 41 percent of the voters, compared to 42.57 percent in the 2020 elections.

Thus, this participation rate is the lowest in legislative elections since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, amid calls to abstain from voting following the exclusion of many moderate or reformist candidates before the voting process. It is the first since the widespread protests that shook Iran at the end of 2022.
