But not Grace Gelder, a 31-year-old filmmaker from London, who got around the problem when she finally proposed to herself!
Gelder said she bought a ring and a dress and invited all of her friends to watch her take her vows.
Gelder stated that she was partly inspired by the Björk song, Isobel, which includes the lyric: "My name's Isobel, married to myself."
'The day was obviously centered on me, and the final event was a mirror for me to kiss," she said.
