REPORT: Baalbek to witness difficult summer season

The cultural city of Baalbeck is said to witness further setbacks this summer due to the start of sewage works in the vicinity of its archeological citadel, transforming the historical landscape into what resembles a chaotic construction site.

The city was also deprived of its annual international festival with the event being moved to the region of Jdeideh, thus hitting the town both on the touristic and economic levels.

Accordingly, the city’s mayor called on the government to find a solution to help the touristic institutions that were preparing to welcome visitors.
