REPORT: Second phase of Tripoli's security plan to be implemented Monday

The northern city of Tripoli witnessed three hours of violent clashes Saturday overnight between the army forces and a number of gunmen, leaving severe damages to the streets.

This as members of the Internal Security Forces will start to implement the second phase of Tripoli's security plan on Monday morning at 9 am, the state-run National News Agency reported on Sunday.

Almost 500 ISF members will be deployed in Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen while establishing checkpoints and conducting patrols in the northern city.

Caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel called Saturday on all the parties to cooperate with the security apparatuses so that Tripoli’s security plan succeeds, urging the Lebanese factions to hold peaceful dialogue.

Speaking from Tripoli, Charbel stressed that the security plan will be implemented across all the regions in the city without any exception, warning against any attack targeting the security forces “who are a red line.”
