REPORT: Italian PM Letta visits Lebanese officials

President Michel Sleiman met on Saturday at the Presidential Palace in Baabda with Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta with talks reportedly featuring high on bilateral relations, support for the LAF, and aid of the International Community for the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

The Italian Ambassador to Lebanon Giuseppe Morabito also attended the meeting.

Both officials stressed the need for the international support to Lebanon's stability, economy and the Lebanese armed forces.

PM Letta reiterated  Italy's readiness to increase the level of its support for the Lebanese army.

 In his turn, Sleiman hailed Italy's decision to organize an international conference in Rome to support the capabilities of the Lebanese armed forces, in coordination with the United Nations and Lebanon.

PM Letta meets with caretaker PM Mikati

As well, PM Letta met with caretaker PM Najib Mikati at the Grand Serail where they held a joint press conference in which PM letta declared that Italy will level up its aid to the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, reiterating Italy's support to Lebanon pertaining to such humanitarian file.

For his part, caretaker PM Mikati said that PM letta informed him that Italy will host a conference to support the Lebanese Armed Forces on several levels.
