REPORT: Speaker Berri denounces attempts to target the LAF

Speaker Nabih Berri warned on Wednesday against the "dangerous security situation" in Lebanon, condemning all attempts to target the Lebanese army "which undermines stability and could drag the country into havoc".

During Wednesday's parliamentary meeting, Berri warned against the threat of terrorist organizations that aim to turn Lebanon into "a place of Jihad".

He also raised questions about the Lebanese people's failure to cooperate in order to face those who compromise their country's unity and stability.

Also on Wednesday, Speaker Berri postponed the legislative session scheduled for today until Tuesday the 28th of January 2014 at 10:30 am, due to lack of quorum.

In this context, only ten deputies from the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, Developments and Liberation bloc and the Marada Movement bloc, attended the session, while the Future bloc’s MPs boycotted the meeting because they consider that the session’s agenda does not go in line with the presence of a caretaker cabinet.
