REPORT: EU's Brok regrets Nasrallah’s unwillingness to cooperate in order to form neutral cabinet

The chairmanship of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Elmar Brok visited Saturday a number of the Lebanese political figures, including President Michel Sleiman at the Baabda Presidential Palace, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the Grand Serail and the leader of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea at his residence in Maarab.

Brok was accompanied by European Union Ambassador to Lebanon Angelina Eichhorst and members of the German Parliament Frank Heinrich and Tobias Zich.

The European official hoped that a new president will be elected on time according to the constitution, urging for the fast formation of a new cabinet capable of disarming all terrorist groups.

“I am not pleased with the fact that a party in Lebanon is refusing to cooperate in order to restore stability in the country and is interfering in the Syrian conflict,” he said, noting that this responsibility rests on Hezbollah in what concerns the future of Lebanon.
