REPORT: Haret Hreik's suicide bomber: Lebanese University student Qoutayba al-Satem

Investigations are ongoing in the case of Haret Hreik blast that took place on Thursday afternoon. In this context, an Individual Civil Status Record was found at the crime scene and belongs to the young man Qoutayba al-Satem from Wadi Khaled, who is a student at the Lebanese University in Tripoli.

Experts are working on comparing the photo on the record to the remaining of the unidentified body parts.

Sources told LBCI that Qoutayba al-Satem left his house on December 30 noting that his father reported his disappearance to the police station.

This as sources told LBCI that Rakan Ammoun  who was the last owner of the booby trapped car is currently  in the Syrian town of Flita and is loyal to hard-line Syrian rebels groups.

Also, caretaker Minister of Interior Marwan Charbel arrived to the scene of the explosion accompanied by Hezbollah Coordination Unit Official Wafik Safa.

Charbel added that such acts of violence will not create strife in Lebanon, adding that statements of condemnation are "pointless."

Meanwhile, the judicial police teams are pursuing their work and lifting fingerprints from the scene of the blast.

Later, the acting General Prosecutor Judge Samir Hammoud and the State Prosecutor to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr arrived to the crime scene. Judge Hammoud said that “it is most probable that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber,” ruling out that the vehicle was remotely.

In turn, the acting secretary-general of the High Relief Committee Maj. Gen. Mohammad Kheir stressed that all the affected citizens will be compensated, calling on them to prepare their official documents.

A powerful explosion shook southern Beirut, a stronghold of Hezbollah, on Thursday 2nd of January, killing at least 4 people and injuring over 77 others.

The explosion took place in al-Arid Street in Haret Hreik near Jawad restaurant only meters away from Hezbollah's political council, sources said.
