REPORT: Lebanese develops app to tell loved ones "I am alive" in wake of explosions

With bomb attacks increasingly targeting Lebanon, three in January alone, a Lebanese masters student has created the "I am Alive" app which allows users to quickly tweet a standard message: "I am still alive!" with the hashtags #Lebanon and #LatestBombing.

26-year-old Sandra Hassan, who lives in Paris, has created this app in the wake of a suicide car bomb that exploded in the southern Beirut suburb of Haret Hreik, killing 4 people.
Lebanon, divided between pro- and anti-Syrian regime, has been witnessing a surge in violence and car bomb explosions since the onset of the neighboring conflict in March 2011.
"Each time an explosion or a similar event happens in Lebanon, we all rush to our phones in order to check on our friends or relatives who live or work in the targeted area," Hassan said.
