REPORT: Hermel car bomb was set to explode on Monday-sources

“The car that exploded in Hermel on Saturday was a black Grand Cherokee,” the Lebanese Army Command said on Sunday, adding that the vehicle contained over 125 kg of explosives.           
This as, the army arrested a Syrian national carrying a fake Lebanese identity card and driving a bus with forged documents.        

The Syrian, who hails from the town of Rakka, was caught at the scene of explosion in Hermel.        
Security sources also told LBCI that the explosive-laden vehicle was set to explode in Hermel on Monday.            

Criminal Evidence teams and the judicial police inspected on Sunday the area of Jisr al-Aassi in Hermel while LAF units were rebuilding the army checkpoint that was targeted on Saturday.          

The attack killed a LAF soldier identified as Hamza al-Faytroune, a LAF officer identified as Elie Khoury and a civilian identified as Mohammad Ayoub, and injured 17 others.           

Also, a forged driving license was found at the explosion’s site in the name of Bassem Abbas Saleh.

Minister of Public Works Ghazi Zoueiter told LBCI that the attack targets the Lebanese state and all Lebanese people, urging all leaders to unite against terrorism.
