REPORT: LAF unit blows up booby trapped car

Sources told LBCI on Monday that the Lebanese Armed Forces blew up a booby trapped car found on the side of a road between Fakha and Ras Baalbek, while no one was inside, after firing a B7 rocket on it.

The agency added that the driver of the silver Grand Cherokee escaped.

Same sources added that the found car is a gray Grand Cherokee which entered Lebanon with another Grand Cherokee that was used by a suicide bomber on Sunday's attack.

This as sources denied to LBCI reports stating that the Lebanese army dismantled a Honda CRV car parked near the car that the army blew up earlier.

In turn, the Lebanese Armed Forces Command issued a statement in this regard in which it said that the weight of the explosives found in the SUV car that the army blew up is around 170 kg.

This as the Lebanese army raided and inspected the outskirts of Fakha, Nabi Othman and Labwe regions following reports stating that other booby trapped cars entered into Lebanon.

At least three people were killed when a suicide car bomber struck a Hezbollah stronghold in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley on Sunday in an apparent response to the fall of a rebel-held town to government forces across the border in Syria.
