Citizen Mahmoud al-Hassan died of wounds he sustained earlier in Bab al-Tebbaneh, while citizens Khodor Assi and Nadim Assaad were killed in clashes in Jabal Mohsen. This as sources told LBCI that the Lebanese Armed Forces unit raided several homes in Tripoli's al-Baqqar and Jabal Mohsen following sniping activity targeting the LAF soldiers. Meanwhile Arab Democratic Party media official Abdel Latif Saleh told LBCI that several people were injured as mortar shells targeted Jabal Mohsen.
Separately, the Lebanese Armed Forces declared that on the 21st of March 2014, at 2:20 am, a roadside bomb exploded in the region of Bahsas when an army patrol was passing, noting that the explosion did not leave casualties, but damaged a number of vehicles parked nearby.
The army command issued a statement in this regard, whereby it said that the military expert and the military police units rushed to the scene and launched an investigation under the supervision of the concerned authorities.
The traffic was low across the city’s streets, while the army blocked the Tripoli-Akkar international highway due to sniper fire. The shops, public and private institutions located far from the fighting axes, started opening their doors, while most of the schools and universities suspended classes.
On Thursday night, clashes intensified in several regions, where machine guns and rockets were used, damaging several buildings and raising a state of panic among the residents.
The death toll from the latest round of clashes, which erupted last Thursday March 13th, reached 23, while the number of injured increased to 157. To watch the full report, please click on the video above.
