REPORT: Christian leaders say Lebanese president should bear his national responsibilities
Christian leaders agreed on the necessity of speeding up the first round of presidential elections, stressing the importance of electing a president capable of bearing his national responsibilities in an effective manner.

Bkerke spokesman Walid Ghayad said Christian leaders noted that they will oppose any concession or settlement that will undermine Lebanon's interests.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Ghayad said that Lebanese Forces Leader Samir Geagea told Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai that he will consent to what the conferees agree on.

On Friday the 28th of March, a meeting was held in Bkerke between Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bshara Boutros Rai, Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun, Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel and Marada Movement leader Sleiman Frangieh.

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea did not attend the meeting for security reasons.
