Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai held the mass of Holy Thursday at the Roumieh prison.
He washed the feet of 12 prisoners, calling for the quick trial of inmates who have been detained without receiving sentences.
Rai also called on the state to assume its responsibilities towards the prisoners.
The ceremony was held in the courtyard of the prison's block D.
