REPORT: NASA astronauts shave head after World Cup loss

Two American astronauts aboard the International Space Station shaved their heads Thursday (June 26) after losing a World Cup bet.

NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman and Steve Swanson made a wager with their German ISS crewmember Alexander Gerst on the United States-Germany World Cup Group H match.

The German team beat the U.S. 1-0 which meant Wiseman and Swanson had to let Gerst shave their heads.

When Flight Control in Houston signed off for the night they sent their condolences to the Americans on their loss.

"And the last thing from Houston tonight, our condolences on your loss today for Steve and Reid. Flight wanted to point out that bald is more aerodynamic when flying," NASA's Mission Control in Houston radioed to the astronauts.
