VIDEO: Baby rescued from rubble in Aleppo
A baby, said to be no more than two months old, has been rescued from rubble in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, a video posted on a social media website showed on Friday (July 11).
 
A man is seen clearing rubble and debris from a small hole in a wall around the young baby's head. He is then seen lifting the baby out of the hole and holding it. The video shows the baby crying in the man's arms and people are heard saying "Allahu akbar."
 
Reuters is unable to independently verify the content of the video, which was posted on a social media website on Friday.
 
The video was posted on the Facebook page of a group calling itself Aleppo civil defense. The group's page on the social networking website said the rescue effort in the al-Ansari neighborhood took 16 hours.
 
Syrian government forces advanced around Aleppo this week, bolstered by fighters from the Lebanese group Hezbollah, residents and state media said on Wednesday (July 9).
 
Syrian state news agency SANA said on Wednesday that army united had "pummeled terrorists" in several areas around Aleppo city.
 
Syria's three-year long civil war has killed 160,000 people, while 2.5 million refugees have fled abroad.
